When are survey responses recorded?
Once you have send out the correct survey link correctly to the correct respondents then rest assured that the responses are saved and recorded in the Analyze Results section of your survey. Responses are recorded when:
- when a respondent answered all the questions on the first page of the survey and clicks Next button to continue to the next survey page.
- when a respondent completes the survey and clicks the Done button and submit the survey.
What account have you signed in to?
When you cannot find any responses in your Analyze Results tab, check if you’re signed in to the correct account that you used for creating and sending the survey.
Did you send the preview link?
Review the survey link that you’ve sent out. Responses on the preview link are not recorded. You can confirm if you sent the preview link if the URL contains the work “preview” somewhere in it.
- If you used an Email Invitation Collector, the correct link is sent automatically with the message.
- If you used a Web Link Collector, click the name of the collector in the Collect Responses section of your survey to find the correct link.
Issues in Survey Design
There are required questions in my survey
Sometimes, required questions are a bit confusing to the respondents. If the respondent clicks Next or Done without answering a required question, their responses from that page will not be captured unless they answer the required question and click Next or Done again.
There are question validations in my survey
When there’s a question validation in your survey, make sure to modify your error message so the respondents understand your requirements. If the respondent clicks Next or Done without answering the question properly, their responses from that page will not be captured unless they answer the question properly and click Next or Done again.
There’s a Skip Logic in my survey
If there’s a skip logic in your survey design, there might be logic on a page that is directing respondents backwards or in different pages of the survey. This can be confusing to them and may keep them from completing your survey.
Check and test each logic path using the Preview Link to confirm that everything is set up properly. You can also edit a live survey, even if you already sent it out.
Note: Track your respondents so you can monitor whether they have or haven’t submitted a survey response. Set up tracking option prior sending your survey.
